Bridging Field and Lab Spectroscopy

Does this look familiar?

I, Ryan Barlow, have spent my career working with hyperspectral imaging systems and spectrometers, primarily using reflective spectroscopy methods. My journey included everything from measuring optically thin explosive residues to collecting spectra of bird plumage at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.

Across these very different applications, one difficulty has remained consistent: high-end field-portable spectrometers are frustrating to use in a laboratory setting. Even with instruments costing $80K or more, users are often forced to assemble custom illumination setups, manually position samples, update reflectance calibration by hand, and painstakingly label and organize spectral measurements.

In collaboration with Spectral Evolution and White Bear Photonics, GeoPulse is addressing this gap by delivering a plug-and-play measurement platform compatible with existing spectrometer devices.

The MODI platform transforms field-portable spectrometers into automated laboratory-grade measurement system. No more kludging together a setup in the lab…

Workflows become as easy as connecting the spectrometer and placing a sample inside the measurement platform. Minimal sample preparation, no setup time, and automatic, traceable measurements.

In addition to automation and high-quality spectral measurements, the MC02 Spectroscopy Plus platform provides an expanded set of capabilities:

  • Point-resolved Hyperspectral Imaging

  • High Dynamic Range (HDR) Measurements

  • Automated Microscopy, Including Stitching and Focus Stacking

  • Particle Size Analysis

  • Surface Topology and Depth Mapping

  • Fluorescence Illumination and Modular Lighting accessories

  • Transmissive Spectroscopy accessories

  • Standard ENVI Data Output

  • Hyperspectral Analysis Software

Whether applied to research, ground truth validation, resource mapping, mining and mineral analysis, precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, or broader remote sensing workflows, the platform is designed to extend the usability of existing spectrometer investments in an affordable and modern package.
